Privacy Policy
Opulent Finance, a registered business name of The Trustee for The Kasturiratna Family Trust ii, ABN 95 780 438 918. Last updated 5 September 2026.
This policy explains how Opulent Finance collects, holds, uses and discloses personal information, and how you can access it, correct it or complain about how it has been handled. We are bound by the Australian Privacy Principles in the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and, for credit-related information, by the credit reporting provisions of that Act and the Privacy (Credit Reporting) Code.
Credit assistance is provided under the Australian Credit Licence of Australian Finance Group Ltd (AFG). Where you apply for credit through us, AFG's Privacy Policy, available at afgonline.com.au, also applies to the information collected for that purpose, together with the Privacy Disclosure Statement and Consent on this page.
1. What we collect
We collect the personal information we need to respond to your enquiry, provide credit assistance and administer the services that follow. Depending on what you ask us to do, that may include your name and contact details; identification details; information about your employment, income, expenses, assets and liabilities; information about the property or business the finance relates to; the entities you hold assets through; and information about your existing loans and credit history, including credit eligibility information obtained from a credit reporting body with your consent.
Our online assessment collects only what each step asks for. Before we ask for your name, email or mobile, we show you a collection notice. Answers you give before that point are held on your own device for the session and are not sent to us until you provide your contact details and agree to continue.
2. How we collect it
Mostly from you: through the website, by phone, by email, in meetings and through the documents you give us. With your consent we may also collect information from lenders, credit reporting bodies, your employer or accountant, valuers, solicitors and conveyancers, and identity verification services. If you give us information about another person, for example a co-borrower or guarantor, you should tell them that you have done so and that this policy applies.
3. Why we collect it and how we use it
To respond to your enquiry; to assess your situation and provide credit assistance; to prepare and lodge applications with lenders on your instruction; to manage the application through to settlement; to keep in touch about your loan and review it with you over time; to meet our legal obligations, including responsible lending, identity verification and record keeping; and, if you agree, to tell you about lending updates and reviews from Opulent Finance. You can withdraw marketing consent at any time and it does not affect the credit assistance we provide.
4. Who we disclose it to
Lenders and credit providers you apply to, or that we assess your position against; Australian Finance Group Ltd as our licensee and aggregator, and its related entities and service providers; credit reporting bodies, with your consent; valuers, solicitors, conveyancers, accountants and other professionals involved in your transaction; identity, mobile-number and email verification services; the providers of our customer relationship, telephony, SMS, email, hosting and cloud services; and any person or body to whom we are required or authorised by law to disclose it. We do not sell your personal information and we do not share it with third parties for their own marketing.
5. Overseas disclosure
Some of the organisations listed above, including AFG's service providers and the providers of cloud, verification and communication services, may store or process information outside Australia. AFG's Privacy Disclosure Statement lists the countries that may be involved. Where we engage a provider ourselves, we take reasonable steps to ensure it handles your information in line with the Australian Privacy Principles.
6. Website, cookies and analytics
Our website uses analytics to understand which pages are visited and where people leave the online assessment. That analysis records the page, the step and the outcome, not the answers you give. We do not record sessions or keystrokes on the assessment, results, portal or document pages. Our lead gateway holds unverified submissions only for as long as needed to complete verification and deliver the enquiry to our team, after which they are removed; verified enquiries are held in our client system. You can control cookies through your browser settings.
Measurement on this website starts in a limited mode: analytics measurement is on, and advertising storage is off. You can change that here at any time; your choice is kept in this browser only.
Current setting: analytics measurement on.
7. Security and retention
We hold personal information in secure systems with access limited to people who need it to do their work. Information sent through the website is encrypted in transit. We keep personal information for as long as it is needed for the purposes above and to meet our legal obligations, including record-keeping obligations under the National Consumer Credit Protection Act and the anti-money laundering legislation, after which it is destroyed or de-identified.
8. Access and correction
You can ask for access to the personal information we hold about you and ask us to correct it if it is inaccurate, out of date, incomplete or misleading. Write to us using the details below. We will respond within a reasonable time and, in most cases, at no cost. If we decline a request we will tell you why and how to complain about that decision. For credit eligibility information obtained from a credit reporting body, you may also contact the credit reporting body directly.
9. Complaints about privacy
If you believe we have handled your personal information in a way that breaches the Australian Privacy Principles or the credit reporting rules, contact us first using the details below. We will acknowledge your complaint and respond in writing. If you are not satisfied, you may take the matter to the Australian Financial Complaints Authority (1800 931 678, info@afca.org.au, www.afca.org.au) or to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au. The Complaints section on this page sets out the steps in full.
We may update this policy from time to time. The current version is always the one on this page, with the date shown at the top.
