The record of the firm he runs

These are Opulent Finance's figures, not personal ones, and they are the same figures published everywhere else on this site. He is the credit representative behind all of them.

Settled lending and client retention are the owner's own attested figures and are not independently audited. Retention is measured as clients who return to Opulent Finance for their next loan or refinance. Premium Broker status is held with leading banks; no individual bank programme is named. Access to a lender panel is not accreditation with every lender on it, and the lenders loans were actually settled with in the last twelve months are published in full.

What he actually does on a file

Lending judgement that has seen the whole cycle, applied to how debt is held across entities, how income from different sources is treated, and which lender will see a complex position the way it deserves to be seen.

In practical terms that means the assessment, the structure and the recommendation, not just the application. Most of a broker's value is spent before an application exists, in deciding what the position should look like when a lender finally sees it.

Why a tax background changes a lending file

FIPA, FFA and CTA are accounting and tax letters, not lending ones, and that is the point. How a borrower earns, where the income lands, and which entity holds the debt decide what a lender can do long before anyone looks at a rate. The academic side runs the same way: a Bachelor of Science, a Master of Commerce, a Master of International Business and a Diploma of Applied Tax Law. Commerce and tax explain the numbers a lender reads; the science degree is where the habit of checking the working came from.

A company profit retained rather than drawn, a trust distribution that changes hands between years, an SMSF that must stay liquid after a purchase, a commercial property held in one entity and serviced by another: each of these is an accounting fact first and a credit decision second. Read in the wrong order, a strong position can be assessed as a weak one. That is the work.

It is also where the boundary sits. Opulent Finance provides credit assistance, not tax, legal or accounting advice, and works alongside your own advisers where a structure decision needs them.

How a file runs

  1. A short assessmentWhat you are trying to do, what you already hold and what matters most to you. No documents at this stage and no credit check.
  2. The position, gatheredWith your agreement, the facility, entity and income detail, using statements and records you already have rather than asking you to build a file.
  3. Assessed across the panelLender by lender and entity by entity, the way each lender will actually see it, across the lender and aggregator network.
  4. A written position, then your decisionOptions, costs and trade-offs in writing, discussed with you. Nothing is lodged and no credit check is run until you say to proceed.

What he works on

When someone else comes first

Any enquiry stating $10 million or more goes to Ian Webbe, Mortgage Development Manager, whatever the finance is for. Ian manages the relationship; the credit assistance on the file is still provided by Dayan Kasturiratna. The figure decides this, not the page an enquiry happens to start on.

What he will not do

Recognition

Held in his own name, as the practitioner rather than the firm.

The full record for the firm and the people in it, with the artwork and the years, is on the recognition timeline.

How to reach him

A finance review starts with a short assessment: no documents at that stage and no credit check. It reaches the right person the same day, and the written position that follows comes from him.
